DRC 6 is the rail corridor that connects Europe to Iran and Pakistan, which is aiming to link the hinterland cities to the ports of the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea. It consists of 5 subcorridors. DRC 601 includes the 503 km east–west main line in Azerbaijan and the railway line in Georgia from Poti/Batumi (GEO) to Beyuk Kesik. DRC 602 and 603 follow the North–South Transport Corridor, part of an ancient trading route that has connected South Asia with Northern Europe for centuries. DRC 602 forms the west side of the corridor of the Caspian Sea, comprised of a 438 km railway line extending from Yalama (Russia) to Astara. DRC 603 forms the part on the eastern side, connecting Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, with a total length of 3,600 km. DRC 604 connects Poti/Batumi (Georgia) to Krachi (Pakistan). DRC 605 connects the Russian Federation and the ports of Pakistan, and has a 4,100 km line with 80% already in operation.
