Objective

The primary objective of the Lagos-Ibadan Railway is to modernize and improve Nigeria's rail network, connecting the economic hub of Lagos with the industrial city of Ibadan. This modernization aims to enhance freight transportation efficiency, reduce reliance on road transport for goods, and facilitate the movement of passengers.

Description

The Lagos-Ibadan Railway is a 157-kilometer standard gauge railway line connecting Lagos and Ibadan, Nigeria, inaugurated in June 2021. It's the first double-track standard gauge line in West Africa and the first rail line to connect these two major Nigerian cities, significantly reducing travel time compared to road travel. It is part of the The Lagos–Kano Standard Gauge Railway, a 1,343 kilometres (835 miles)-long standard gauge railway under construction in Nigeria
