Objective

From Tabriz, transit goods can head further inland to Tehran and access Iran's broader railway system. This links the Turkish border directly with major North-South branches heading toward the Caspian Sea, the Azerbaijan border, and the Persian Gulf.

Description

The route from Bazargan to Tabriz spans roughly 170 miles (270 km) and forms a crucial, heavily trafficked western segment of Iran's transport network. It acts as a primary land bridge for European and Turkish trade entering Iran, connecting directly into broader routes reaching the Persian Gulf and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). While sections near Tabriz are completed, the dedicated Tabriz-Bazargan motorway has faced a prolonged construction and financing timeline.
