Objective

The Azerbaijan - Iran project is considered as a key missing link in NSTC, which is proposed to provide a direct rail link between India and the Caucuses to Russia and northern Europe, and is projected to carry up to 10 million tonnes of freight per year.

Description

The Astara-to-Astara rail link connects the border cities of Astara in Azerbaijan and Astara in Iran, serving as a critical component of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).An 82.5-meter bridge over the Dastra River links the two countries.
