1,096km

Total cost

US$4,300,000,000

Components

The Ouagadougou-Tema corridor is a major trade artery for Ghana and a concentrator of economic activity in both Ghana and Burkina Faso. It serves as a primary economic artery for Sahelian trade, facilitating the import and export of essential goods through West Africa. To streamline and reduce logistical costs, Ghana and Burkina Faso have implemented multiple agreements to harmonize transport regulations, allow mutual recognition of driver's licenses, and reduce non-tariff barriers along the route. Supported by institutions like the World Bank and the African Development Bank, the corridor forms a key segment of regional integration initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
