Description

The existing quay wall will be deepened from -12.8m to -16.5m Chart Datum Port (CDP) and lengthened from 914m to approximately 1 210m which will allow for the simultaneous berthing of three 350m long Post Panamax Vessels. When this is completed, a proposed expansion of the terminal’s capacity will proceed. ICTSI was awarded the privatisation tender by Transnet for DCT Pier 2 for a 25-year partnership, whereby the Philippines concessionaire would acquire 49% of the terminal. DCT Pier 2 handles approximately 65% of South Africa’s total containerised cargo and is the main link to the country’s economic and industrial hinterland in Gauteng.
