The Ekibastuz GRES-2 Unit 3 Expansion Project aimed to construct a third generating unit at the existing Ekibastuz GRES-2 Power Station in northeastern Kazakhstan. Located within the Ekibastuz coal basin, one of the largest coal-producing regions in Central Asia, the project sought to expand the station's installed capacity by 630 MW, increasing total capacity from approximately 1,000 MW to 1,630 MW. The project forms part of Kazakhstan's strategy to strengthen domestic electricity generation and support industrial and mining activities in the country's northern energy corridor.
