Objective

It will strengthen regional integration with Tanzania, which is currently a missing link on the spur into Mtwara corridor, through the Unity Bridge (built by the two countries and commissioned in 2010) over the Rovuma River.

Description

The present project aims to assist the Government in developing a transport masterplan that will guide the future plans for mobility and transport planning in the northern region of Mozambique. The road project is divided into two phases: Phase 1 covers the 70 km section from Negomano to Roma, while Phase 2 covers the remaining 93 km from Roma to Mueda

History

Funding was split between phase 1 and phase 2 by the ADB ($35 million and $71 million respectively)
