Description

The Gwadar Coal-Fired Power Plant is a planned 300 MW independent power project under CPEC, developed by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) through its subsidiary CIHC Pak Power Company Limited. Intended to supply reliable electricity to Gwadar, the project has faced prolonged delays due to financing and insurance-related challenges.

History

In 2016, the CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee selected China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) as both project sponsor and EPC contractor for the 300 MW imported-coal power plant. CCCC subsequently established CIHC Pak Power Company Limited (CPPCL) as the project company and began the regulatory approval process through Pakistan's Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
