Uzbekistan: CAREC 2 Road Investment Program (Tranche 1-3)

Objective

This would strengthen Uzbekistan’s role as a key transit point for Central Asian countries looking to trade among themselves and with the rest of Asia and Europe.

Description

The Program supported the government’s priorities in improving the regionally important A380 highway (Guzar–Bukhara–Nukus–Beyneu) under its National Road Development Program for 2009–2014.3 Out of the 1,200-kilometer (km) A380 highway, 300 km were to be constructed and 900 km reconstructed during this period.
